Intramural Team Swim Relay
A four-person swim relay event will be held Feb. 22, beginning at 6 p.m. at the pool at Yano Fitness Center.
This is a team event, and each team of four people must have at least one male and one female, with all members from the same unit. This event is open to all military personnel, retirees, Department of the Army civilians, AAFES employees, SOFA family members, JGSDF members and local-national employees who are 18 or older and out of high school.
There is no cost to enter this competition. Registration for the event will be accepted until right before the event begins, but you can visit the Yano front desk now to sign up.
Awards will be given to the first- and second-place teams. This event is worth Commander’s Cup points.

International Friendship Half-Marathon
The 27th annual International Friendship Half-Marathon, 10K and 5K Run, organized by the Kanagawa Running Association, will be held April 16 at Sagami General Depot.
The deadline to register is Feb. 28, and there is no cost for SOFA personnel and their family members. You can register by going to the front desk at the Yano Fitness Center on Camp Zama. All three races are open to those 18 or older and not in high school.
Check-in for the half-marathon will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Check-in for the 5K and 10K will both be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The 5K will begin at 2 p.m., and the 10K will begin at 2:10 p.m.

Zama Shrine Walking Tour
Army Community Service will be offering a walking tour of the nearby Zama shrine March 3. It will begin at 10 a.m., with the starting point being the Community Recreation Center.
The Zama shrine is just a short 10-minute walk from the Camp Zama main gate, and to enter the shrine, visitors must walk up a set of 77 steps. In observance of what’s known as “Girl’s Day” in Japan, the shrine decorates those steps with hundreds of traditional Japanese Hina dolls.

Zama International Association Multicultural Festival
The Zama International Association will host its annual Multicultural Festival March 5 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Sunny Place Zama, located next to Zama City Hall.

Rokin ATM Near Gate 1 to Be Removed
The Rokin ATM located next to the JED parking lot near Gate 1 is scheduled to be removed.
Service at the ATM will end March 31, and the machine will be removed
between April and June.
Hawaiian Festival
No-Drone Zone
All U.S. Army in Japan installations are “no-drone zones,” meaning all drone usage is prohibited. That includes the very popular toy drones.
Also be advised that Japan has strict drone usage laws and if you intend to fly one off post, you should ensure you understand those laws.
Time Change for Booking Space-Available Appointments
The BG Sams U.S. Army Health Clinic recently changed the time for space-available patients to call for scheduling a same-day appointment. The time has changed from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m., and calls can be made to DSN 262-4175 or 046-407-4175.

Pfizer Vaccine Available for Children Ages 5 to 11
MEDDAC-J now offers the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. Appointments are available on Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m. To schedule an appointment, please use this website: https://informatics-stage.health.mil/COVAX/.
