FORT KNOX, Ky. — Through the month of March alone, the Mission Support Battalion’s Mobile Exhibit Company will travel to 122 events in 29 states, spanning over 80,000 miles.

Comprised of 37 active-duty Soldiers who are all Commercial Driver License-certified and considered to be expert exhibitors, MEC crisscrosses the nation each year in support of recruiters by bringing assets to events and enhancing spectator engagements with the U.S. Army. Their role in the accessions mission offers future Soldiers an opportunity to engage with not just local Army recruiting battalion representatives, but also with the MEC Soldiers who deliver the assets.

“Connecting with the public and sharing the stories of our Soldiers is honestly the best part of this job,” said Capt. Emma Neal, commander of Army Mobile Exhibit Company. “People don’t even know this is a job option in the Army — to drive trucks across the country — and then they are like, ‘How can I sign up?’”

With a fleet of 21 branded assets that include 12 heavy tractor trailers and nine lighter assets, the MEC Soldiers offer firsthand accounts of what life as an active-duty Soldier is like in today’s Army. With them are trailers loaded with the latest technology in gaming, virtual reality, STEM, weapons and aviation simulators.

With the events of 2022 behind them, the MEC Soldiers are fresh off some well-needed and well-deserved leave and ready to kick off 2023.

Monitored and well maintained all year round, this year’s MEC assets have been tuned up, re-wrapped and are ready for their next year on the road. Local recruiting companies have coordinated MEC assets to attend college and career fairs, festivals, concerts and sporting events, in addition to annual larger events like Future Farmers of America and air and sea shows where they are a fan favorite.

This year, as in years past, MEC assets have already attended the Celebration Bowl in December and the Rose Bowl in January.
