Team,
It’s so good to be back amongst all the talented individuals who call CECOM home in this new year. I hope you took the necessary and well-deserved time to rest and recharge for the upcoming year ahead.
While we accomplished so much in 2022, I’m confident that in 2023 we will continue to achieve remarkable work in support of Army readiness and modernization, with our People remaining at the forefront!
This past November, the Under Secretary of the Army imposed an immediate Army-wide freeze on Senior Executive Service (SES) hiring actions to comply with DoD-mandated SES reductions. While this freeze delayed the selection of CECOM's Software Engineering Center (SEC) Director, we have been extremely fortunate to have talented SEC senior civilians step up to the challenge of acting director. These individuals have ensured we have never missed a beat in supporting our warfighters, and we are all extremely grateful for their service!
Although the hiring freeze remains in place, it is expected to lift soon and hasten the announcement of CECOM’s next SEC Director. In anticipation of this movement and to mitigate additional transition within SEC headquarters, Ms. Michelle Dirner was asked to extend her time as the Acting SEC Director until the permanent SEC Director is onboard. Ms. Dirner graciously accepted and will remain in the role for a period of time, not to exceed 120 days.
Thank you, Michelle for accepting this challenge selflessly and with such tremendous competence; our entire command has benefitted from your work ethic and commitment to the mission.
As we begin the new year and month, please be mindful that January is officially designated as National Operations Security Awareness Month. It’s very fitting to start the year off with an OPSEC mindset in everything we do. OPSEC awareness helps people recognize the things they should be paying attention to every day to ensure the collective safety and security of all our people, allies, and assets. Maintaining vigilance with mission-critical and sensitive information is key to combatting terrorism, extremism, insider threats, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities in a modernized environment.
Please also remember that C5ISR Hall of Fame nominations are currently open until 31 January 2023. While nominations for selection into the C5ISR Hall of Fame are open to any former Soldier or Department of Army (DA) civilian assigned to the C5ISR community, prospective nominees for Class of 2023 are limited to GS-15 and below for civilians, and O-6 and below for military. Please go to the CECOM Hall of Fame webpage to obtain a nomination form and for more information on additional nomination guidelines. https://cecom.army.mil/Halloffame/Nomination_Guidelines
The dedication and efforts of our entire CECOM team in support of the men and women who defend our Nation are greatly appreciated. Thank you all for everything you do. Let’s keep up all the great work into 2023 and forward!
Combat Power. Always Ready.
Sincerely,
Liz
