Army Housing Holiday Closures

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

All Directorate of Public Works customer service desks will be closed from Dec. 29 through Jan. 3, 2023, in observance of local national holidays. Services will be limited to emergencies only. In case of emergency, please call the DPW customer service number for your respective area.

The Sagamihara Family Housing Area Self-Help Store will be closed through Jan. 4, 2023. The Camp Zama Self-Help Store will be closed through Jan. 3, 2023.

New Year’s Eve Bowling Party at Zama Bowling Center

The Zama Bowling Center will have a New Year’s Eve bowling party Dec. 31 from 4 to 10 p.m. with unlimited “Cosmic Hyper-Bowling” for $18 per person. Call 263-4780 or 046-407-4780 from your cellphone for more information.

‘Daniel Dugar and Friends’ Stand-up Comedy Show

Great Zama ‘Shake Out’ Drill

Zama City plans to hold the “Great Zama Shake Out” drill Jan. 23, 2023, in an effort to better prepare its community for earthquakes by practicing the 1-2-3 safety steps of dropping, covering and holding onto something stable. The drill, which will take place at 11 a.m. and last for one minute, is a great reminder for the U.S. Army in Japan community to also practice earthquake preparedness and to have an emergency plan in place.

Brian McKnight Concert at Camp Zama Community Club

R&B and soul artist Brian McKnight will perform a free concert Feb. 11, 2023 at the Camp Zama Community Club. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Call 263-4547 or 046-407-4547 from your cellphone for more information.

No-Drone Zone

All U.S. Army in Japan installations are “no-drone zones,” meaning all drone usage is prohibited. That includes the very popular toy drones.

Also be advised that Japan has strict drone usage laws and if you intend to fly one off post, you should ensure you understand those laws.

Increase in Postage Prices

Effective Jan. 22, 2023, the U.S. Postal Service will increase the price of First Class Mail and Forever postage stamps.

Time Change for Booking Space-Available Appointments

The BG Sams U.S. Army Health Clinic recently changed the time for space-available patients to call for scheduling a same-day appointment. The time has changed from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m., and calls can be made to DSN 262-4175 or 046-407-4175.

Pfizer Vaccine Available for Children Ages 5 to 11

Army Recruiting Office Opens on Camp Zama

An Army recruiting office recently reopened on Camp Zama to better support potential recruits on mainland Japan following a decade-long hiatus.
