Kohunsky most recently served as the 1st Armored Division’s 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team Command Sergeant Major and replaces Sgt. Maj. Thomas Conn who retired in July.
CAC-T Deputy Commander Col. Scott Woodward hosted the ceremony and said that Kohunsky has given 25 years to the nation training, leading and mentoring Soldiers.
“In that time, he has developed himself into one of the finest NCOs the Army has,” Woodward said. “He’s an expert trainer of our most important resource, our Soldiers.”

Woodward reminded the audience of everything that CAC-T oversees including: all training areas, ranges, training aids, training devices, simulators, simulations, combat training centers, training doctrine and lessons learned.
“To do all that, and to do it well, it takes people that know training,” Woodward said. “It takes someone that knows training, that can represent the user. This is a huge endeavor. I know you're up for it sergeant major, because you will represent the Soldiers.”

“The world is changing at a dynamic pace and the Army is with it,” Kohunsky said. “Now, more than ever, we need to train and equip our fighting forces for the challenges that rise up.”
Soldiers must be prepared to fight and win in land combat Kohunsky said.
“We cannot forget that what we do here at the Combined Arms Center directly impacts them, and our mission,” Kohunsky said.
