FORT KNOX, Ky. — Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 155 and Boy Scouts of America Girl Troop 155 devoted three of their weekends in November to soliciting for donated food items at the Fort Knox Commissary.

Their efforts focused on helping the American Red Cross Food Pantry with what donations they received. Dubbed the Scouting for Food Drive, the efforts of the 36 Scouts and 38 adult volunteers paid big off as patrons of the commissary came through with three trailers full of food.
The Scouts and adults stood in front of the Fort Knox Commissary each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 to Nov. 20 to collect the food items. By the end, they had collected 4, 451 items of food which, according to one volunteer, “almost overwhelmed the pantry.”
