Army Community Heritage Program
Army Community Heritage Program is a partnership between Fort Lee and the city of Petersburg intended to increase public awareness of the relationship between Petersburg and Fort Lee, inspire patriotism, maintain the Army's respected reputation, and support recruiting and retention efforts. Through this joint venture, the city planners of Petersburg identify the needs of Soldiers and their Families and enhances shopping and recreational opportunities, product availability, and services offered outside the gates of Fort Lee. Military Spouse Training Program
Army Community Services, John Tyler Community College, and others have partnered with the Virginia Workforce Council who awarded a $200,000 grant to support a military spouse training program at Fort Lee. This program offers job skill training, a Governor's Career Readiness Certificate, and job placement assistance by the Virginia Employment Commission. Free child care and transportation is included.
