Community Expo

The Augusta-Metro Chamber of Commerce and the CSRA Alliance for Ft. Gordon hold an annual event with community vendors and service agencies providing information to newcomers. The event features a plethora of information, door prizes, refreshments, gift baskets for our military personnel and their Families.

Financial Support

Alumni of the "Augusta in Army Boots" Program which includes local community leaders, organized a fund raiser called "Salute to Soldiers" and raised over $25,000 for Family Readiness Groups. Local churches have sponsored special Fort Gordon events and donated the contributions to Family Readiness Groups. A local business has donated funds to support the Warrior Transition Unit and deployed Soldiers and their Families.

Operation Augusta Cares

Several area churches host a fun day of food and activities at the Family Y Water Park for Families of deployed Soldiers. This special opening features magicians, inflatable jumping toys, door prizes, games, and more. The sponsors have hosted this event for the past two years.

Support of Christmas House

Area businesses as well as civic and social groups provide monetary and in-kind donations to ensure a traditional winter holiday celebration for Service members and their Families. Annually, over 300 military Families receive toys and commissary gift certificates.

Military Spouse Day

Monetary donations and gifts are provided by area businesses to pay special tribute and appreciation to our military spouses in May of each year. These co-sponsors joined the Director of Army MWR in providing refreshments, gift baskets, flowers, gift certificates, door prizes, etc.

Trees for Troops

The Christmas Spirit Foundation coordinates the donation of live trees from tree growers nation-wide and delivers them, by FedEx, to Families at Ft. Gordon. Area Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops donated Christmas tree decorations.
Adopt-A-Unit

The local Association of the United States Army chapter promotes and helps facilitate an Adopt-A-Unit program between community, corporate organizations and Fort Gordon units/Family Readiness Groups (FRGs). This program demonstrates community support for soldiers and their families for their service to the nation as well as increasing the understanding by soldiers of the communitys commitment to them.
