On September 22, 2022, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) employees attended the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) Career Expo as part of a community outreach effort to directly recruit and hire from local universities.
Several WSMR staff members representing the Test Center and human resources attended to answer student questions, receive resumes, and hand out WSMR branded swag. Interested students were able to immediately apply to available STEM and Engineering internships and positions at the WSMR booth through a mobile, online registration portal created specifically for this hiring event.
“We are out here today in full force recruiting for a number of open STEM positions and others at White Sands Missile Range. Being active at local recruiting events really represents the future for us. With a large percentage of our work force eligible to retire in the coming years it is very important that we actively and intently recruit the upcoming generation. We have had a really great turnout and we are looking to extend letters of intent today,” said Tristen Gilbert, White Sands Test Center Technical Director.
