WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (September 21, 2022) On September 20, 2022, Col. Theo Unbehagen, Director of the Special Operations Forces - Test and Experimentation Center (SOF-TEC), White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), was a guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Las Cruces in Mesilla, NM.
Rotary International is a global network of 1.4 million members who provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through their fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. The organization is most known for their global polio eradication efforts.
Unbehagen provided a presentation to the club members on SOF-TEC’s function within the Army, on WSMR as a new tenant, and in the local community. Topics discussed were the unit mission, training, and future activities. Unbehagen explained the unique benefits of testing on WSMR, to include facilities and a controlled multi-domain training environment.
“I was honored to speak at the Rotary Club. As I observed the passionate involvement of the members to the Rotary mission, it reminded me of our SOF truth that people are more valuable than hardware. Like Rotary, in Special Forces it’s our people that are our greatest strength and most precious resource, which fulfills our value proposition,” said Unbehagen.
