HONOLULU -- The community is invited to the Oahu-based Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency's annual POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, or Punchbowl, Friday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
POW/MIA Recognition Day pauses to remember and acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of U.S. military personnel who, in heeding our nation's call to arms, forfeited their individual freedoms as prisoners of war, or who lost their lives and remain missing.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day reminds us of them and the tens of thousands of others missing from World War II, the Cold War, Korean War, the Vietnam War and other designated conflicts.
The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, or Punchbowl, is located at 2177 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu. Driving directions can be generated at https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/nmcp.asp.
