Faith Skills classes set to begin Sept. 7

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — The Religious Support Office here is set to begin the 10-week Faith Skills study programming on Wednesday at the Main Post Chapel for service members and their families.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday evening through Nov. 9, attendees can enjoy a meal, followed by classes designed to assist in growing faith and building community, said Martha Strong, director of Religious Education here.

Strong noted childcare is available as well, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for children four years old and younger.

Trauma REBOOT

A faith-based trauma healing course designed to help combat veterans and their families recover from spiritual and moral injury. Since 2011, thousands of graduates have seen their hope restored and lives transformed. This class runs through Nov. 17 in Room 107.

God’s Presence in our Profession

Explore what the Bible says about various aspects of work. The purpose and value of work will be discussed, along with how Christians can integrate their faith at work. This class is located in Room 132.

Christians Can be Soldiers

The role of a Christian in the military will be discussed through the study of Martin Luther’s treatise from 1525. This class is located in Room 152.

Protestant Catechism for Individuals, Families

The Heidelberg Catechism of 1563 will be discussed with a question-and-answer style of teaching to help instruct adults and children in the basic truths of the Holy Scriptures. This class is located in Rooms 130-131.

Come & See… Study of the Gospel of John

This study is for the hungry, the seeking, the skeptic, the weary and the broken. Key themes include faith, grace, abiding, waiting, Christian living, trust, the love of God, perseverance and abundant life.   This class is located in Room 161.

Rediscovering Catholicism: Catholic Young Adult Study

Discover why Catholicism is not a lifeless set of rules and regulations, but a way of life designed by God to help each person reach his or her full potential. This class is located in Room 148.

See through the Scriptures

This study makes the Bible more accessible by taking readers step by step through the biblical narrative, from Genesis to Revelation, putting everything in clear context using 44 graphics to help with key concepts. This class is located in Room 156.

Warriors for Christ

This class helps children ages five to 10 years old gain a greater understanding and knowledge of God. They will also learn lessons to help them obey God’s commands to love him and to love others. This class is located in Rooms 153-155. Parents must sign children in and out each week.

God's Exceptional Choice

This class looks at the biblical books Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Judges, 1 Samuel, Ephesians. Reliable Scripture exposition, and relevant and timely discussion questions engage students and give the lesson meaning in their everyday lives. This class is located in Rooms 150-151.

Youth of the Chapel

For children in sixth through twelfth grades, Youth of the Chapel meets from 6 to 8 p.m. in Bldg. 6501, and provides a dynamic time of learning, fun and fellowship.
