FORT KNOX, Ky. — Fort Knox Garrison will conduct its final motorcycle safety check of 2022 on Sept. 9, beginning and ending at the installation.

Organizers say the purpose of these rides is reinforce continuous education, safety awareness and encourage esprit de corps.

The ride will start at the Lindsey Gold Course parking lot a 9 a.m., and end later at the same location for accountability. Before departing, riders will receive a safety briefing and be required to complete a T-CLOC inspection. These inspections will be verified by unit motorcycle mentors.

As well, riders will be required to complete a DD Form 2977 Risk Assessment and published route map by the senior post motorcycle mentor prior to departure. The approved uniform for this ride consists of long pants, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, over-the-ankle shoes or boots, full-finger gloves, and a Department of Transportation approved helmet with attached face shield. If riders don’t have an attached face shield, they must wear shatter-resistant googles or wraparound glasses.

Civilian employees are encouraged to attend the ride pending deconflicted mission requirements and supervisor approval. Contractors in a leave status may also attend.
