Beginning Aug. 24, repairs are being made over the next two weeks to the handheld scanning system at the Chaffee (main) Gate. This system is normally used by gate guards to scan DOD IDs and all other forms of valid installation visitor passes in cases where there is more than one vehicle occupant. Single vehicle occupants can continue to use the scanning pedestals at the Chaffee Gate; however, longer-than-normal lines are anticipated due to the extra time it will take gate guards to conduct identity proofing checks for multi-occupant vehicles.
Those entering Fort Knox may wish to consider using the Brandenburg and Wilson gates, as their handheld and pedestal scanning systems remain operational.

An update will be provided when the handheld scanning system at Chaffee Gate is fully operational.
