Col. Scott Woodward assumed responsibility as the new Combined Arms Center-Training Deputy Commander during a ceremony Aug. 12, 2022 at the Frontier Conference Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth Commanding General Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin hosted the assumption of responsibility ceremony for CAC-T.
Martin said the director of CAC-T was one of the jobs he had always wanted to have after he saw firsthand the impact the organization had on the Army when he was a member of the CAC-T team in the early 1990s.

Martin said that Woodward was going to be in the position to drive a couple of major missions across the finish line for the Army.
“The effects are going to be felt for decades,” Martin said.
Martin said the publication of the new FM 7-0, Training, in 2021 was just the first half of the battle.
“Scott, I’m charging you and the CAC-T team to complete the mission,” Martin said. “I need you to propagate 7-0, drive it into professional military education.”
Martin said he has known Woodward for a while, having served with him at the Training and Doctrine Command. Woodward’s most recent assignment was the executive officer to the commanding general of TRADOC. Woodward also served as the commander of the 11th Cavalry Regiment.
“I’ve seen what this officer can do,” Martin said. “I saw what he did in the Mojave Desert leading the Blackhorse (11th U.S. Cavalry) Regiment and I have nothing but high hopes and great expectations for what you will do for CAC Training.”

Woodward said it was great to be back at Fort Leavenworth, that he and his wife Judy were enjoying reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people.
“This is really a homecoming for us,” Woodward said. “It’s hard to put into words how excited we are to be here.”
Woodward explained that one of his daughters graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and that his wife Judy was a Washburn University (Topeka, Kan.) alum. This is the 5th time the Woodwards have been stationed in Kansas - three times at Fort Riley and this is their second time at Fort Leavenworth.
“We consider Kansas to be home,” Woodward said. “We are so happy to be back.”
Woodward said that the opportunity to lead an organization like CAC-T, an organization that impacts the entire Army, demonstrates the trust and confidence the CAC leadership has in him.
“With your support and the support of teammates across the army, we will do our best to live up to your expectations,” Woodward said. “To provide world class training and world class training support to the people who deserve it the most - the Soldiers of our Army.”
