FORT KNOX, Ky. — Hundreds of members of the Fort Knox community decided to stay in Aug. 2 for this year’s National Night Out.

Hosted by the Fort Knox Directorate of Emergency Services and Knox Hills, most of the festivities at the special event took place inside of Sadowski Center rather than outside due to the threat of potential storms in the area.

National Night Out is an annual awareness event held on the first Tuesday in August, geared toward supporting the efforts of law enforcement within residential communities. Members of the National Association of Town Watch established the campaign in 1984.

In its 38th year, this year’s local event featured safety challenges and bounce houses for the children as well as Bingo, face painting, music, prizes and several tables set up for residents to grab goodies and additional information. A band from Fort Hood, Texas performed for the crowds.
