CAMP CARROLL, Republic of Korea — Residents of Camp Carroll received a special delivery from their postal operations team to kick off the month of August — a new, upgraded post office.
U.S. Army Garrison Daegu Commander Brian P. Schoellhorn called the project a good investment for the community and made note of the improvements.
"I just went through the facility itself. It's all up to date. We have the latest technology to serve the needs of the community. Email notifications get sent out and the communication process is fast and efficient."

Schoellhorn praised the partnership between the garrison team and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the facility's construction process.
"This could not have happened without our dedicated postal service employees, it could not have happened without [the Directorate of Public Works] and it could not have happened without the Army Corps of Engineers Far East District. Like everything in Area IV it's a great partnership and it's a partnership that delivers something that Soldiers and family members want and need."
Focused on their customers, the Camp Carroll postal team maintained services while making the transition between locations.
"The Camp Carroll postal crew has spent a lot of hours and effort moving everything from the old building to the new building. I'm proud of the dedication and effort they've shown getting this building ready for the community," said Shawn Burney, postal superintendent for Area IV.
Burney said the new post office has a number of features that will make processing mail more efficient for his staff and more convenient for customers:
- 24-hour access to mail (not including parcels).
- More boxes, more storage — the 2,720 post office boxes are large enough to accommodate magazines without the need to fold them.
- Dedicated space to service customers who are processing in and out of Camp Carroll.
