SOFAR is a pro bono mental health project that provides support, counseling, psycho-education, and prevention services to extended family members of National Guard and Reservists deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, from deployment through reunion and reintegration. Since all services are free and no insurance billing is involved, SOFAR guarantees complete confidentiality. SOFAR also works with pediatricians and teachers - first responders in the lives of children - to help them support children, with deployed loved ones.
