Team CECOM,

Last Friday’s Military Appreciation Night at Ripken Stadium was a blast! I was honored to throw out the first pitch for a game between the Aberdeen IronBirds and Winston-Salem Dash, with legendary baseball player Cal Ripken Jr. at home plate to catch. Many APG tenant organizations and local recruiting stations set up booths to share their work with a full stadium of fans. Thank you to everyone who attended the event; I appreciated seeing your support for our troops and am already looking forward to next year.

I spent the Fourth of July representing CECOM in our local communities at the Bel Air parade and Cecil County Salute to Service. This was my first year celebrating Independence Day as the CECOM commanding general, and I can’t express how proud I was to be the face of such an innovative and dedicated team. To all our teammates worldwide, thank you for everything that you do. Each and every day, your work supports the American values on which our country was founded. Your mission and your work truly matter!

As we move further into the summer, it’s important to remember that the annual hurricane season in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico runs from 1 June through 30 November. The U.S. Army North’s homeland defense mission includes mitigating the effects of natural and manmade disasters by providing timely, effective defense support to civil authorities. If you live in an area known for natural disasters look into safety precautions to take during this season. Every member of our team is vital to the mission and important to us.

As a reminder, the 2022 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) closes on 22 July. This survey is an excellent way to ensure your voice is heard - including your opinions about our leadership and management practices. You can find your individual link to take the survey in your email.

Combat Power! Always Ready!

Sincerely,

MG Edmonson
