The U.S. Army Garrison bid farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Command Sgt. Maj. Jason L. Gusman as the Garrison’s senior enlisted advisor on May 13, 2022, at the Fort Detrick Auditorium during a Change of Responsibility Ceremony.

USAG Commander Col. Danford Bryant spoke proudly of Gusman for his work and commitment to Fort Detrick during his remarks.

“For the past ten months, Command Sgt. Major Gusman was my trusted advisor and a tireless backbone for this Garrison. He is a true Army professional – a man of character, commitment, competence, and candor, everything we expect of our senior noncommissioned officers,” said Bryant.

He went on to praise Gusman’s dedication to leading, building relationships, and getting the job done.

“Command Sgt. Major Gusman, like all the great CSMs, was a doer. As a career supporter, he hates the words ‘No’ and ‘Never.’ Jason does everything in his being to get to ‘Yes,’” continued Bryant.

Gusman thanked and spoke highly of the Fort Detrick directorates, USAG employees, units, and local community groups for supporting Fort Detrick and him during his time here.

“I can’t believe my time has already come to an end here at the Garrison. When I first arrived, the former CSM, now CSM (retired) Muñoz, told me that I was getting a great Garrison with motivated and dedicated Soldiers and Civilians. He was so right. Our Soldiers, NCOs, Officers, and Civilians get the job done day in and day out. Second to none,” said Gusman.

Gusman wished incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Dills and his family success, as he will assume command mid to late June.

Gusman will be heading to San Antonio and assume the senior enlisted leader position for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command.
