Peterson promoted, assumes helm at PEO CS&CSS

DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. – U.S. Army Program Executive Office Combat Support & Combat Service Support (PEO CS&CSS) headquartered here, held a combination promotion and assumption of charter ceremony June 30 for its new PEO, Brig. Gen. Samuel L. “Luke” Peterson.

Director of the Defense Contract Management Agency Lt. Gen. David G. Bassett officiated the promotion portion of the ceremony, while Principal Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Lt. Gen. Robert L. Marion presided over the assumption of PEO charter portion of the event.

As PEO CS&CSS, Peterson provides professional and executive management for the development, systems integration, acquisition, testing, fielding, sustainment, and modernization of approximately 250 diverse equipment systems across the Army's Transportation, Quartermaster, Ordnance, and Engineer portfolios.

Prior to this assignment, he served as the Deputy Director-Transition supporting the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office since August 2020. There, he was responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all program transition requirements for RCCTO capabilities transitioning to respective Program Executive Offices and Program Managers. Previously, Peterson served as the Deputy Director supporting the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology) Deputy for Acquisition & Systems Management (DASM).

Andrew “Andy” DiMarco, CS&CSS deputy PEO, served as acting program executive officer while the Army underwent the processes associated with selecting Peterson as the new PEO. During the event, Marion presented DiMarco the Superior Civilian Service Award for his time as acting PEO.
