Erin Cumbo, project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, will be honored as a Technology Rising Star recipient at the 2022 Women of Color Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Conference in October.

During her time with the Little Rock District, she’s worked on numerous Civil Works projects including managing the district’s dredging maintenance program for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, Beaver Lake Land Acquisition study, Sluice Gate Rehabilitation at Bull Shoals, Norfork, Gillham, DeQueen and Dierks Lakes and numerous other operation and maintenance projects around the district.

“We’ve asked Erin to work on some of our most challenging projects,” said Little Rock District’s Deputy for Programs and Project Management and Chief of Programs and Project Management Division Craig Peirce. “I’m not surprised she’s being recognized considering how well she’s done with the projects and extensive workload we’ve asked her to take on.”

Cumbo has been a Project Manager in the Civil Works Branch of the Little Rock District Programs and Project Management Division for three years. Prior to joining USACE in 2019 she worked for JAMESON Architects, PA in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University and has spent her career working in the fields of Architecture (with emphasis on historic preservation), Residential and Commercial Construction, Theater/Film Set Design and Graphic Design. In those fields she spent time both in office settings and on-site with hands-on experience building and painting.

The 2022 Women of Color STEM Conference kicks off on Thursday, October 6, 2022 with a networking event and culminates Saturday, October 8, with a gala awards spectacular. Cumbo and other recipients of this award will be recognized at the Technology Recognition Event on Friday, October 7, 2022.
