Tower Barracks Army Lodging team receives Lodging Operations Award, recognizes Supervisor of the Year

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Commander Col. Christoper R. Danbeck presented the Lodging Operation Award to the the Tower Barracks Army Lodging team on May 25. The lodging team was awarded for its consistent motivation in serving hotel guests for reasons involving PCS, TDY and leisure. During fiscal year 2021, the team served a total of 38,524 room nights at the facility.

“I’m super proud of you guys for getting this prize,” said Danbeck. “This is a huge deal. Thank you for everything you do.”

The lodging manager accepted the award — on behalf of the Tower Barracks Army Lodging team — with great enthusiasm. All staff members received a pin as a token of appreciation.

“The USAG Bavaria Tower Barracks Army Lodging operation is mission essential,” said Waltraud Schill-Rueckert, lodging manager of Tower Barracks Army Lodging. “We are providing the first impression, and creating the last memories, at Tower Barracks.”

Elke Murankus, housekeeping leader at Tower Barracks Lodging, received the Supervisor of the Year Award for highest standards of professionalism and unparalleled commitment to the guests she served, along with her exceptional team leadership.

"I didn't expect to win this award — it's just the work I'm doing," said Murankus. "This was a team effort."

Tower Barracks Army Lodging is located on-post Grafenwoehr, and it has 72 standard, 17 extended and 47 family suites. The grand opening was 11 years ago, in September 2011.
