The White Sands Missile Range Post Library hosted a storytime on May 18, where WSMR Police Officers read stories and educated kids on safety matters. This week is an important week for Police Officers accross the nation since National Police Week began on May 15 and ends on May 21 this year. National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Stephen Montoya, Investigator, Traffic Management & Collision Investigations for the Directorate of Emergency Services, enthusiastically read stories to the kids. After the stories and activities, Montoya certified all the kids on 911 Safety Awareness and presented them with certificates. Joseph Miller, the Supervisory Librarian, got the kids moving around and singing about safety. The kids left storytime feeling proud of themselves and ready to promote safety.
