SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii– Army & Air Force Exchange Service shoppers can lend a helping hand to Soldiers and families in need by donating to Army Emergency Relief (AER) at checkout next time they shop the Schofield Exchange.
In 2021, Exchange shoppers worldwide donated more than $1.2 million to AER.
With the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting many members of the military community in 2021, AER’s mission remained crucial in supporting Soldiers facing difficult circumstances.
“The last few years have tested us all,” said Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull, an Army Veteran. “The Exchange family understands selfless sacrifice and knows when to pitch in. The Exchange is honored to partner with Army Emergency Relief, giving shoppers an opportunity to help their military family in need.”
Since the Exchange partnered with AER in 2017, shoppers worldwide have donated more than $3 million to the relief fund, which provides financial assistance, sponsors educational scholarship grants for military family members and offers community programs to make life better for Soldiers and their families. The relief organization has also supported Warfighters and their families through the pandemic.
“We thank Exchange shoppers for supporting Army Emergency Relief,” said LTG (R) Raymond V. Mason, AER director. “Every dollar makes a significant difference in helping Soldiers, retirees and Army families. We couldn’t complete our mission without you.”
Schofield PX shoppers can donate in increments of $1, $5 and $10 or enter in a custom amount at the register.
“When their battle buddies are in need, Exchange shoppers continue to answer the call,” said Hawaii Exchange General Manager Michael Ryan. “The Exchange is honored to partner with AER and support its incredible mission.”
In Hawaii, authorized patrons have four Exchanges they can shop at:
