Army reservist transitions to new career as DA Civilian, Quality Assurance Chief at 597th Transportation Brigade

On April 23, we will celebrate the generations of Soldiers who, like the patriots before them, embraced their roles as “Citizen Soldiers,” continuing their proud and distinguished legacy of service in the Army Reserve.

Today we will meet KD Keller, a former Army Reservist and a Soldier for Life. Keller is the Quality Assurance Chief at the 597th Transportation Brigade S3 Ocean Cargo Clearance Authority (OCCA).

I worked in operations in 831st and 839th Transportation Battalions in Bahrain and Italy. Prior to that I was in Active Duty as a Patriot Air Defense Artillery Officer.

What kind of education or training do you have that helps you do your job?

I have a master’s in Procurement and Acquisition, I have been to TC-Aims and HAZMAT

I was picked as Transportation Reserve Officer of the Year for 2021

Through the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War and the Global War on Terror, and countless other crises, operations, emergencies and natural disasters, the Warrior Citizens of the Army Reserve have never failed to answer the nation’s call. The 597th Transportation Brigade is a part of the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, responsible for integrating and synchronizing surface deployment and distribution capabilities in the Continental U.S, deploying and sustaining the Armed Forces off the East and Gulf coasts in support of global operations and U.S. Southern Command.

Additionally, the command stands ready to provide surface rapid port opening capabilities via the Army’s only three Rapid Port Opening Elements in support of its global Joint Task Force Port Opening mission.
