Gen. Schoomaker prepares his horse for a trot around the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo on Feb. 16, 2005. Schoomaker opened the rodeo on that day by swearing in a group of new Army recruits in front of thousands of rodeo fans. Schoomaker has been an avid sports enthusiast and believes that participating in sports helps build teamwork and character.

Rebecca Macintyre, a motor transport operator with the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, during a ceremony at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, in August 2006.
