WIESBADEN, Germany – More than 900 cyclists tracked their mileage as they cycled Europe during the 2021 Installation Management Command Europe Cycling Challenge.

Fred Proctor from the U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden community, and Nina Moore from U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria’s Hohenfels community were the top male and female cyclists with 8,312 and 4,061 kilometers, respectively.

From May 1 to Aug. 31, 2021, most of the 946 participating cyclists finished in three categories: 408 cyclists finished 500 km; 335 cyclists finished 1,000 km; and 92 cyclists finished at least 2,000 km.

Proctor, who picked up his cycling hobby at age 10 from his father, biked more than 12,000 km for the entire year and rides an average of 35 km per day.

Moore said if she can choose between walking and cycling, she will always choose to ride. Last year choosing cycling added up to her riding more than 6,500 km outdoors for the entire year, as well as about 9,000 on her indoor bike.

As for next year's challenge, Moore said, it always depends on the weather, but she and her husband already have several cycling trips planned.
