On March 30, 2022, the United States and Saudi Arabian national colors that had flown prominently over Eskan Village in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were lowered for the last time. Conducted in front of the United States Army Military Assistance Group (USAMAG) headquarters, the ceremony marked the end of an era. Eskan Village has been home to U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia for over 30 years and it holds a unique status within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Over the last 14 years, Eskan served as the base of operations for USAMAG. Col. James A. Zanella, Program Manager for USAMAG, presided over the ceremony and made remarks to the Soldiers and DA Civilians who were present. USAMAG and other U.S. mission partners have relocated to Al Nakhla, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to continue providing security assistance to the security forces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
