FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — On April 5, we recognize the service and sacrifice of a very special group of people. Please join us on Gold Star Spouses Day, as we pay tribute to the husbands and wives of our fallen comrades.
Military service is a shared commitment and all family members sacrifice. When a brother- or sister-in-arms gives everything, we owe their families an unpayable debt. By supporting Gold Star families, we honor them along with the memories, the lives and the achievements of their service members.
Gold Star spouses remain consistently strong supporters of our military. They represent their beloved service members in community events; they tell their stories; and they provide comfort to other Gold Star spouses and their families. Army Survivor Outreach Services and the Army Survivor Advisory Working Group combine to give our Gold Star spouses resources, such as support coordinators, financial counseling and a forum to voice emerging needs. No matter your location, if you are a Gold Star family member, a representative will be available to help you if you call 833.313.1960. Fort Leonard Wood’s SOS coordinator may be reached at 573.596.0195.
Our Gold Star spouses are integral parts the Fort Leonard Wood family. Let us continue to honor the legacy of our fallen service members — and the ongoing sacrifice and perseverance of their loved ones — with the incredible work you complete every day. If you know or meet a Gold Star spouse or family member, please applaud their courage, acknowledge their spouse’s sacrifice and thank them for their continued service.
