FORT CARSON, CO--The 5th Bn., 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade cased their colors before their upcoming deployment to Europe here, on Pershing Field, March 29, 2022. Security Advisor Teams from 4th SFAB have maintained a persistent presence in Europe from the Baltics to the Balkans since October of 2021.

This new force package will remain in Europe for six months and continue to advise, support, liaise, and assist nations which include Georgia, Latvia, North Macedonia, Poland, and Romania.

Security Advisor Teams increase interoperability and achieve strategic goals by providing experienced leaders from the maneuver, combat engineer, signal support, intelligence, medical, and logistics career fields.

"After months of collective training for conflict, 5th Battalion stands ready to deploy in support of our NATO allies throughout Europe," said Lt. Col. Shields, commander of the 5th Bn. "We look forward to building interoperability with our Romanian partners as part of a broader collective effort to bolster the alliance."

“The 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) provides specialized and experienced, purpose driven U.S Army leaders that aim to increase interoperability in support of USAREUR-AF security cooperation objectives,” said Col Robert Born, Commander of the 4th Security Forces Assistance Brigade.

4th SFAB is among other units assigned to V Corps, America's Forward Deployed Corps in Europe that works alongside NATO Allies and regional security partners to provide combat ready forces, execute joint and multinational training exercises, and retains command and control for all rotational and assigned units in the European Theater.
