The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC) will host an online session highlighting the new Army Safety Management Information System 2.0 (ASMIS 2.0) tool April 18 during the 30th Annual Joint Safety and Environmental Professional Development Symposium (PDS).

ASMIS 2.0 is a family of information technology systems that underpins the Army Safety and Occupational Health Management System (ASOHMS). It is the first SOH tool to use advanced intelligence to integrate distinct data with a vast array of authoritative systems and data sources across the Department of Defense (DOD) and other government agencies. The tool provides a “one-stop shop” for all data that is pertinent to Army SOH and presents data and information in an intuitive, leader-centric way that allows the right people to have the right information at the right time to make decisions that impact their organization’s safety, risk management and loss prevention efforts.

Presented by the Naval Safety and Environmental Training Center, the PDS is a free online event that serves as an opportunity for DOD uniformed and civilian professionals to share innovative ideas and new trends and information in the areas of SOH, environmental protection and industrial hygiene. This year’s symposium will convene April 18 via Adobe Connect with seven claimant sessions presented by the various services. Breakout sessions will be held April 19-22 covering a wide variety of topics.

The PDS has been presented online since 2013, and continues to grow both in the number of attendees and topics offered. Presenters from government, industry and academic agencies participate in the annual event, and speakers present from locations around the world on topics such as health and safety for disaster response and recovery, general safety, operational safety, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, environmental protection and other trending topics.

The virtual meetings and sessions will provide attendees the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge and continuing education credits without the burden of travel or conference fees. The 2021 PDS provided over 14,000 continuing education certificates to more than 2,500 registrants. Nearly 39% of attendees were from the Navy, 5% were Marine Corps, 18% were Army, 2% were Coast Guard, and 18% were Air Force. The remaining 18% were from other DOD organizations and agencies.

Participant registration is currently open at https://events-na2.adobeconnect.com/content/connect/c1/889710285/en/events/event/shared/2990863076/event_registration.html?sco-id=2990853201. Registration is open to anyone with a .mil, .gov or .edu email address. The event is 100% online and is provided to attendees at no cost. An agenda sneak peek is available for viewing at the link above by clicking the orange Interactive Schedule tab below the header on the registration page. The majority of sessions will be recorded and available for viewing for months after the PDS has ended.
