O'Connor announced for new assignment at U.S. Army Sustainment Command

Army Chief of Staff George W. Casey, Jr., announced Friday Col. (P) John R. O'Connor, deputy commanding general, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Fort Eustis, Va., will be assigned to the U.S. Army Sustainment Command as deputy commanding general with duties as commanding general, Army Materiel Command-Southwest Asia and G-4, U.S. Army Central Command.

O'Connor, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, has served with SDDC since Apr. 15, 2008.

SDDC has the mission to provide global surface deployment and distribution services to meet the nation's objectives. SDDC headquarters is located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
