The Detroit Arsenal’s 2021 Army Community Service Adopt-A-Military Family program was quite a success. With the help of the Detroit Arsenal Community, ACS provided 102 families from the Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Surviving Families with assistance for the Holiday’s.
The Adopt a Military Family program prioritizes assistance for families who fall into the ranks of E6 or below.
In the past, sponsors would bring wrapped gifts to ACS within a certain price range for each family member. With the pandemic, ACS switched to requesting gift cards. Sponsors can include a greeting card with their donation or remain anonymous.
ACS successfully raised $26,480 in gift cards for qualified families to help with Christmas shopping for their children. The prior year, the program raised $21,385 and provided assistance to 87 families.
“This is my 2nd year running the program and we were able to assist more families and raise more money this year for the 2021 ACS Adopt-A-Military Family Program,” said Survivor Outreach Services Support Coordinator Kyle Grosso. “This is largely because we have a very generous and outstanding community on the Detroit Arsenal.”
Sponsors can adopt multiple families and also request a specific family size. They can also purchase gift cards as a gift for the parents.
Look for the Adopt-A-Military Family program to start up again during October 2022!
