CAMP CARROLL, Republic of Korea — Area IV Fire & Emergency Services conducted their semi-annual live burn and rescue operations training from 15-18 Nov. 2021 at the Camp Carroll Firefighter Training Grounds.

"The semi-annual training is utilized not only to further the skillsets of the firefighters, but for them to show their competency levels within their job duties," said Mike Diehl, USAG Daegu Fire Chief.

During the first day of training, the firefighters demonstrated their abilities for structural, aircraft, and vehicle fires. The second day of training the firefighters demonstrated their abilities for confined space rescue, emergency self-rescue, and ladder litter rescue.

"This year we joined forces with Chinhae Naval Fleet Activities Fire Department to support their training needs and provide them with additional resources so they can continue to develop in their profession," said Diehl.

This marks the second year the Army and Navy teams have trained together. In addition to partnering with the Chinhae firefighters for training, Area IV Fire & Emergency Services is also committed to outreach both on-post as well as off — the directorate has a mutual aid partnership agreement with the local Daegu government.
