The Fort Jackson Leader’s Drill Sergeant of the Cycle feature is going to be different starting this week. No longer will there be multiple drill sergeants of the cycle, but rather a single one to represent the battalion.

1st Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment selected Staff Sgt. Benjamin Gersky as the unit’s DSOC in a competition that pitted five drill sergeant against each other in a series of arduous set of tasks aimed at testing their mental agility and physicality.

The events included the Army Combat Fitness Test, 2-mile ruck march, land navigation, rifle marksmanship and an appearance before a board.
