The Secretary of the Army Energy and Water Management Awards Program was established in 1979 to recognize installations, small groups, and individuals who make significant achievements in energy conservation and water management in support of Army readiness. This program encourages stewardship of energy and water resources, promotes innovative and effective program management, and reinforces the importance of sound investments in energy and water facilities and infrastructure to improve mission readiness. It recognizes significant achievements in advancing the Army’s energy and water program strategic goals, improving energy security and sustainability on Army installations. The award categories are Energy and Water Resilience Program Effectiveness, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Innovation and New Technology, and Individual Exceptional Performance. The Army has improved energy resilience and increased the capacity of renewable energy produced on Army installations largely because of the initiative, innovation,

On October 29, 2021, Mr. Jack Surash and LTG Jason Evans recognized installations, small groups, and individuals who made significant achievements in energy and water management in support of Army readiness at the 2021 Secretary of the Army Energy and Water Management Award ceremony. Award categories included:  Energy and Water Resilience Program Effectiveness (multi-year; team); Energy Efficiency (single year; team); Water Efficiency (single year; team); Innovation and New Technology (single year; team); and Individual Exceptional Performance (multi-year; individual). Congratulations to all the nominees whose impressive accomplishments have made a substantial contribution to energy and water resilience and Army readiness.

WASHINGTON — The 2021 Annual Secretary of the Army Energy and Water Management Awards were presented to 45 recipient organizations, garrisons and individuals in recognition of their accomplishments during fiscal year 2020 during a ceremony held Oct 29, 2021. Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Installations, Energy & Environment), Mr. J.E. “Jack” Surash, and Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9, LTG Jason T. Evans presented awards on behalf of the Secretary of the Army.
