FORT KNOX, Ky. — Leann Martin, wife of Army Vice Chief of Staff Joseph Martin, and Dee Geise, director of Soldier and Family Readiness and Quality of Life Task Force Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9, stopped by Fort Knox Oct. 22 to get a better understanding of issues affecting spouses.
The purpose of the visit was to engage with spouses, get an update on quality of life initiatives from the Garrison team, and observe some of the efforts that are in place. Martin and Geise also listened to challenges spouses may be navigating.

During their visit, they met with spouses from many of the units on the installation and received tours of various facilities, to include the spouse co-work space in Building 1378.
While at the co-work space, Martin and Geise met with three spouses utilizing the offices for employment, each with their own unique perspectives. One spouse, Olga Hansen, said childcare has been an issue while working in the space for the company for whom she works.
Later in the day, Martin and Geise sat down with several spouses at Fort Knox’s Dietz Community Center and heard about a range of issues, including childcare, employment and health care.
