CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea (Oct. 25, 2021) – The Camp Humphreys Commissary won the title of best large overseas commissary for 2020.

In a virtual ceremony in October, the Defense Commissary Agency presented the Camp Humphreys Commissary with the Dan Daniels award recognizing the best large facility serving the military community overseas.

“This best commissary win was a total team effort. All department employees and vendors really pulled together in an amazing way to achieve this recognition,” said Myong H. Brown, Camp Humphreys commissary officer.

The Camp Humphreys commissary team worked hard throughout a year that was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver quality products and services for military service members, civilians, and their families.

“2020 was a tough year for all of us, but our store employees once again stepped up to the plate and got the job done,” said Bill Moore, DeCA director and chief executive officer, in a DeCA release.

“It’s an honor to announce awards like these because we cannot understate the service our people render to the greatest customers in the world,” he added, highlighting the hard work, service, and commitment of commissary employees.

According to a DeCA release, stores were judged on intangible qualities such as friendly environment and teamwork as well as tangible criteria that included sales, customer survey results, safety, accountability, organization, cleanliness, appearance, recycling, display contests, and special events.

“It took calculated and correct ordering, continual consolidation, and expeditiously working product to the floor,” said Brown.

The commissary team takes pride in serving the military community overseas, Brown added. “Our team is truly second to none and daily fosters a friendly and hometown atmosphere in this international environment.”
