The U.S. Army Garrison Okinawa Directorate of Human Resources team was presented an official plaque recognizing their excellence in human resources and customer services, Thursday, Oct. 15, 2021. The directorate was notified several months ago of their win.
Along with the Installation Management Command plaque, Lt. Col. Ryan S. Gladding and Command Sgt. Maj. Kalani Kalili presented each team member with the Civilian Service Achievement Medal for continued services to the community in the midst of the Global Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.
While many of the other installations on island closed services such as CAC/DEERS, Passports, Education Services, Drug Testing and Suicide Prevention training, and Military Personnel Services completely or limited services to telephonic only, the USAG Okinawa team members continued providing services onsite either maintaining regularly scheduled office hours or through appointments.
These efforts were instrumental to the team receiving the Calendar Year 2020 "Excellence in DHR Award" for IMCOM.
Team members include, Dr. Timothy Knox, Alcohol and Drug Control Officer; Krista Maya, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program Specialist Drug Testing Coordinator; Dara Rahm, Lead HR Assistant; Veronica Johnessee, Transition Services Manager; Byron Irving, Casualty Affairs and Benefit Coordinator; Jacqueline Smith-Morris, Supervisory Education Services Specialist; and Demetrius Simms, Workforce Development Specialist.
