Installation Management Command-Europe Director Tommy Mize presents a newly created IMCOM-E coin to U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Fire Inspector Dirk Barz at the Sembach Fire Station Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. Mize recognized Barz and fellow inspector Daniel Scherer (background) for their work on Operations Allies Welcome keeping Afghan travelers safe. Inspectors Scherer and Barz have provided continuous support to OAW by conducting daily fire inspections of all the temporary lodging facilities on Rhine Ordnance Barracks for the 10,000+ travelers who have made the post a temporary home.  Barz and Scherer’s daily fire inspections directly contribute to ensuring a fire safe environment for all the temporary residents by keeping fire exits and emergency vehicle access routes clear, ensuring smoke detectors are in place, and enforcing no smoking areas.
