FORT KNOX, Ky. — Officials on Sept. 15 shared details about where Fort Knox has come so far in reaching its target mileage goal for the Sexual Harassment Assault Response Prevention program’s “Walking for 7,816+” event.

Sponsored by U.S. Army Human Resources Command, personnel at Fort Knox easily surpassed the goal and had reached more than 9,390 miles by the mid-month mark.

“This is awesome, and I want to say thank you for all that you are doing in support of this event,” said Fort Knox Garrison Sexual Assault Response Coordinator M. Ella Foley. “Please continue to push participation and collect those miles!”

Because of the exceeding the goal, officials have decided to push triple the goal to 23,448 by the end of the month. That number reflects the estimated other two thirds of sexual assaults that officials suspect represents actual victims from Fiscal 2020. They say many don’t report sexual assault each year.

Those who have participated are asked to get outdoors or indoors and tally even more miles. Those who haven’t yet participated are being asked to watch a special video by U.S. Army Cadet Command Commander Maj. Gen. Johnny Davis and Cadet Command Senior Enlisted Leader Command Sgt. Maj. Jerimiah Gan.

That video can be found HERE. To access it, a claim passcode of “XcyDSg7hEqof2jua” is required.

Afterwards, those planning to participate need to fill out the registration form and send it to their designated action officer. Then, keep track of the miles and turn them in weekly.

Officials also are asking participants to wear teal when walking or running their miles, take a selfie and post it on social media along with the hashtag #FTKnoxSHARPWalk.
