WIESBADEN, Germany – During November 2020, Garrison delegates gathered virtually to decide on what issues the Wiesbaden Garrison Army Family Action Plan would send forward to the Department of the Army.
The six issues presented at the conference out brief that were sent forward were: Revision of the Taxation of Moving Expense Reimbursement for Department of Defense Civilians, Second Privately Owned Vehicle OCONUS Entitlement, OCONUS Permanent Change of Station Pet Entitlement, Honorable Discharge Option for Active Duty Primary Child Caregivers, Command Sponsorship for Births to Active Duty Soldiers Abroad and Readily Available EFMP Information for PCS.
According to Army community Services AFAP program manager, Hellen Fakolujo, the issues are still at DA and are being discussed.
Mary Cheney, from Installation Management Command-Europe, said that the Wiesbaden Garrison issues were not in the September meeting of the General Officer Steering Committee at DA.
“Community members should not be discouraged, however,” she said. “Although the issues were not reviewed, they are still active issues with subject matter experts working on dispositions to present when they are reviewed.”
AFAP is a grassroots program that was created by Army spouses with the intent of bringing quality-of-life issues to leadership for action. It is a cyclical program that enables everyone within the Army community to have a voice in the quality of life both in USAG Wiesbaden, as well as the Department of the Army.
Delegates for this year’s conference are being selected now. Delegates will discuss issues brought to their attention and select the issues to be sent to the Department of the Army at the annual conference Oct. 26-28 at the Army Community Service Multi-purpose room in Building 7790 on Hainerberg Kaserne.
Issues can be submitted on line at https://wiesbaden.armymwr.com/programs/afap-submission-form-usag-wiesbaden or dropped at Army Community Services, Bldg.
