WIESBADEN, Germany – Six teams from across Europe representing four garrisons competed Sept. 17 and 18 for the title of Installation Management Command Europe 2021 unit-level soccer champion. Company B, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center walked away from U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart’s Panzer Turf Field with the honors after seven games and one loss.




The tournament consisted of pool play that allowed teams to be seeded for the double-elimination tournament bracket. Co. B, LRMC out of USAG Rheinland-Pfalz bested Company E, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment out of USAG Ansbach 3-2 in the final tournament game with LRMC’s Shane Rose named as Tournament MVP.
It was a great feeling coming together as a team to win the local level and then IMCOM-Europe level championships said Co. B, LRMC coach Andy Maharaj who also recognized Rose as well as Jeffer Tomah, who was named team MVP for the local-level tourney, for their excellence on the field.
Third place went to USAG Italy’s 79th Training Sustainment Command which lost 1-0 to Co. E, 5th Bn., 4th ADA Regt.
“A huge thank you goes out to USAG Stuttgart for all the support hosting,” said Steven Pelletier, IMCOM-Europe Community Recreation Program manager. “After a couple teams dropped, it was still a huge success.”
IMCOM-Europe hosts multiple sporting championships throughout the year at the unit and community levels. The next unit-level championship will be for football and is slated for Nov. 5-7 at USAG Wiesbaden.
Intramural sports opportunities are available for basketball, softball, soccer, flag football, powerlifting and boxing. IMCOM-Europe also host clinics for those interesting in officiating intramural sports. The next officials’ clinic will be for basketball from Oct. 19-22 at USAG Ansbach. Anyone interested in intramural sports or officiating should contact the Sports Office at their local fitness center.
