Fort Benning’s 904th Military Working Dog Detachment recently certified four teams for explosives or narcotics search missions.

The newly certified additions mean Fort Benning now has six teams prepared to provide safety and security patrols on the installation during gate operations, traffic stops, and special events.

“Increasing the number of certified teams at Fort Benning has been a priority,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Brett Johnson, Garrison Command Sergeant Major, Fort Benning, Ga. “These teams are a key part of our security and our commitment to making Benning better every day.”

During select certification cycles, adjudicators can name a “Top Dog” that performed at the highest level. This cycle, MWD Mia earned the award with 95% efficacy.

“Mia gets all the credit,” said Spc. Malachy Rosen, Mia’s handler. “I was learning more from her than she from me.”
