Greetings Team CECOM!
This has been a busy month with lots going on around the command and around the world. We kicked off the month by bidding farewell to Maj. Gen. Kilgo and welcoming Maj. Gen. Edmonson. The change of command is a great time to reflect on where we have been and to think about where we are going as an organization.
Antiterrorism Awareness Month gave us an opportunity to refocus on our antiterrorism programs throughout August. The Army Antiterrorism Program protects personnel, information, property and facilities in all locations and situations against terrorist and violent extremist threats. Being aware and reporting concerns can help identify and prevent threats to our national security and local community. Your vigilance is just another way we continually protect each other.
We finished out the month by participating in our nation’s observance of Women’s Equality Day. August 26 is our day to commemorate the culmination of the long struggle to afford women the right to vote by amending the Constitution in 1920. Women make up 18% of the regular Army, the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, and 36% of the Army’s civilian workforce. To sustain a high-quality Army that is trained and ready, we must ensure that all Soldiers and Army Civilians are given the opportunity to maximize their talents and potential. Though our military has made many strides to eliminate barriers to service, we must remain dedicated to the idea that our nation is not complete until every American receives equal protection and opportunity under the law. I am proud to be a part of our command’s history as the first female senior enlisted adviser for the Communications-Electronics Command and will do what I can to continue helping all Soldiers reach their potential.
As we move into the month of September together, I encourage you all to keep these important themes of taking care of yourselves and each other, maintaining vigilance, and valuing diversity and inclusion in the force at the forefront of everything you do. We are a stronger CECOM and a stronger Army because of these values and I am proud to be a part of it.
Your Command Sergeant Major,
Kristie Brady
