NATICK, Mass. – (August 26, 2021) The U.S. Army Garrison - Natick officially welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Roldan during an assumption of responsibility ceremony held at Natick Soldier Systems Center on August 26, 2021.

Roldan assumed his duties as the senior enlisted advisor by receiving the command's colors from Lt. Col. Andrew White, garrison commander, U.S. Army Garrison - Natick.

The garrison colors are the commander’s symbol of authority and represent his responsibilities to the organization. The command sergeant major is the custodian of those colors, the senior enlisted Soldier in the garrison command and principal advisor to the garrison commander.

“It stands to note, the United States Army is blessed with the most incredibly professional, proficient, competent and committed noncommissioned officer corps in the world,” said White.

White further emphasized his confidence in Roldan’s leadership skills, and said he and the garrison team look forward to working with him while forging a relationship as the garrison strives to accomplish its mission successfully.

“Command Sgt. Maj. Roldan is the embodiment of professionalism,” said White. “He stands ready for the challenge and reward of being the command sergeant major for Natick Soldier Systems Center.”

During his speech Roldan said he is ready to get to work.

“As Noncommissioned Officers, our job is to carry out the day to day business of the Army, with a focus on training and taking care of Soldiers and Families,” said Roldan. “As your command sergeant major, my job is to ensure the Senior Commander and Garrison Commanders’ vision, priorities, and intent are achieved, while simultaneously being an advocate for Soldiers and Families. ”

In addition, Roldan thanked his predecessor, Command Sgt. Maj. Stephanie Cleveland, who relinquished responsibility of the position in May after her selection as the new command sergeant major for the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs where she is currently serving. He also thanked his Family as well as Team Natick.

“I would like to thank my Family and in particular my wife, who has stood by my side for nearly 20 years… thank you for being my best friend,” said Roldan. “To the Natick Team, I am excited about the opportunities this assignment will bring. We must all work together and row in the same direction…This is a talented team of teams. I know we can all win by putting people first and remembering the warfighter is at the center of all we do.”

Roldan is a native of Detroit, Mich., and was previously assigned as Chief Religious Affairs Noncommissioned Officer for V Corps in Fort Knox, Ky. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 2000 as a religious affairs specialist.

As command sergeant major for the garrison, Roldan is a vital part of its mission to provide quality facilities, and excellent base operations support services to all installation tenants. The U.S. Army Garrison - Natick is home to the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center whose mission is to protect and sustain America's military forces through technology, research, development, and engineering. With the U.S. Army Garrison - Natick at its core, Natick Soldier Systems Center is the only Active Duty Army installation east of the Hudson River. Responsible for infrastructure services, the garrison command is comprised of essential support elements ensuring the successful day to day function and operation of the installation.
