Team CECOM,

Thank you to everyone who joined me in person and virtually yesterday at my last CECOM Town Hall. It was encouraging and rewarding to recap our accomplishments as a team and discuss upcoming ventures and challenges. I have every confidence that each of you will continue to contribute to our mission and do great things.

If you’re here at the headquarters, the State of Maryland recorded 416 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, and the testing positivity rate increased 0.14% to 2.45%. Over the past two weeks, the state’s average daily case load has more than doubled. Folks, as I’ve said previously, this is a deadly virus, and we are far from being out of the woods. If you haven’t been vaccinated, I implore you to get your vaccination; don’t become a statistic. Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic is continuing to provide COVID vaccines to all eligible personnel on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please call 410-278-5475 (KIRK) to schedule a time to be vaccinated.

Many of you have probably seen the news about new mask policies and recommendations from the CDC. The Deputy SecDef has issued a memo that effective immediately, areas of substantial or high community transmission require all personnel on installation – regardless of vaccination status – to wear a face mask indoors. Maryland is currently in a “moderate,” level of community transmission. Therefore, CECOM/APG does not currently meet the criteria for mandatory masks wear indoors, but we will continue to monitor and assess as conditions change. This is geographically and post dependent so for our CECOM force not at APG, please be aware that the change may apply to you or your policy may be changing soon.

I truly appreciate all that you do for this command, our men and women in harm’s way, and our Nation.

People first! Winning Matters! Army Strong!

Sincerely

Maj. Gen. Mitchell Kilgo
