Greetings CECOM family!

I hope you all had a great June. 2020 was a challenging year full of adjustments for all of us and it feels like things are continuing to change now, but in a more positive direction. We are officially kicking off summer and the advent of the COVID vaccine has opened the door to many activities we missed last year. I encourage you to get out and enjoy those things, safely. It was great seeing many of you for our CECOM Organizational Day and I hope everyone who couldn’t be here joined us virtually. If you haven’t seen the broadcast yet, you can still check out the recording on our CECOM Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CommunicationsElectronicsCommandCECOM/.

June was also LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Some of you may not be familiar with what the really means so I want to take this opportunity to share some background with you. The uprising at the Stonewall Inn in June, 1969, sparked a liberation movement — a call to action that continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all. Pride is a time to recall the trials the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community has endured and to celebrate the triumphs of individuals who have bravely fought — and continue to fight — for full equality. Pride is both a jubilant celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity.

Pride Month is a nationwide observance recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense to recognize service members of the LGBTQ+ community. Diversity within the formation increases talent, morale and effectiveness, and upholds the Army values of integrity and respect. We are proud of the diversity of our Soldiers who decide to answer the call to serve the greatest country in the world. We respect their service and applaud their patriotism. Happy Pride!
