JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- The Joint Base Lewis-McChord shuttle service is set to start June 28. It will operate on four routes with six, 15-passenger vans from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.

Each shuttle should take 20 minutes to complete the route.

On weekends, the shuttle service will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by dispatch with pickup and drop-off stops at the shuttle pickup locations. The dispatch number is 253-477-3717.

The shuttle van service will not operate on federal holidays.

Currently, the van capacity is limited to eight passengers, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The JBLM shuttle service has four routes:

  • Red Route on Lewis Main, from the post office to the Soldier Recovery Unit, Madigan;
  • Blue Route, Lewis Main to McChord Field, from the Soldier Recovery Unit, Madigan, to the Passenger Terminal/USO;
  • Green Route – Lewis Main, from the Commissary/Exchange, to the NCO Academy;
  • Yellow Route – Lewis North to Lewis Main, from the Lancer Bistro/Hawk Transition Center, to the NCO Academy.

The pickup and drop-off points are identified with the “Go Transit” logo. The vans display a “Go Transit” logo topper and side plague.

Active-duty service members, Department of Defense civilians, family members and sponsored guests may use the shuttle service. Shuttle users must have a valid ID available and sign a rider roster for potential contact tracing.

An Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant van is on order for use on the route.

In the future, service members will be able to download a ride system app to track the location of the vans. Routes will be evaluated monthly for ridership demand, and routes may be adjusted as appropriate.
